They sung from the Heart

Rating:★★★★★
Category:Music
Genre: Alternative Rock
Artist:AdL of I
Switching my WMP to “all music”, I get to notice some worthy homegrown, rocking with sense songs which was automatically copied from our network of office computers into my WMP media library.
I first heard and saw this band perform in UNTV 37’s 3G celebrations at the World Trade Center. A couple of song from them and I instantly said to myself that among the many local bands we have at the time, this is among the few that makes sense.
I completely forgot about them after 3G so as I am writing this, I am browsing some info about the band. A quick recall of my fave Pinay vocalist will initially (coz I may have to insert those I will fail to recall for the moment) look like this…..
1. Odette Quesada
2. Eleanor Academia
3. Cookie Chua
4. Kitchie Nadal
5. and now…….Aia de Leon of Imago

Yes, that is the band’s name, “Imago”. I will have to check out the copyrights of their songs that I now have on my WMP. If there is no problem with that, I could probably upload their songs in one of my playlist.
For now, those that are not familiar with the band “Imago” (as I was few hours ago), here’s an article about them that will be more than enough as an introduction.

‘We sing from the heart’ — Imago
The "Imago," which launched recently its latest album, explained its process of composition, singing and recording.
Aia de Leon, the lead vocalist, mentioned five steps they always have to follow:
1. The lyrics and composition must come from the heart
2. Step out of your box
3. Challenge yourself
4. Be honest
5. Talk to people, listen to their stories.
The other members of the band are guitarist Tim Cacho, bassist Myrene Academia, and drummer Zach Lucero.
And why Imago? For the lack of any other name, explained Aia de Leon.
The album the band has just released is entitled IMAGO Blush under Universal Records.
Blush features the Imago’s bestseller single "Taralets." The other songs are "Zelo," "Lula," "Sundo," "Under Repair," "Highway," "Lights Out," "Last Dance," "Closer," "Walang Mysteryo," "So Be It," and "S.R.O."
Aia did not deny that they would polite quarrels now and then, but their bonding with one another always prevail.
Lead vocalist Aia de Leon wrote practically all their songs, and for which the band spoke of her:
"Thanks to the songwriting prowess of lead singer Aia de Leon, whose prismic vision brings us the versicolored shades of the noblest human emotions."
Their album, Blush, is described as "an entirely musical voyage, with a few pleasant sidetrips."
Blush "is the culmination of Imago’s first two artistic outings, the albums "Probably Not But Most Definitely" and "Take 2."
For these albums, they won Awit, Katha and NU107 Awards, including a Best Vocalist and Best Drummer trophies for Aia de Leon and Zach Lucero.
For their latest album, "the feelings are more intense and touching."
The band members are described as follows:
Aia de Leon — a poetess who takes her listeners beyond the realms of romance with soothing interpretation of her self-pennned songs.
Guitarist Tim Cacho — his sweeping guitar playing is oozing with appeal and genuine feelings complimenting Aia’s singing.
Bassist Myrene Academia — provides formidable musical foundation that Imago really needs, and
Zach Lucero’s technical proficiency on drums heightens all the emotions that each song in the Blush album conveys.
Citing one of their songs, Imago is indeed an S.R.O.

Some Kind Of Wonderful

Rating:★★★★★
Category:Movies
Genre: Romantic Comedy
As I gather, this probably was John Hughes' least known teen movie from the 80's. I did saw it in its theater run sa Pinas and I enjoyed the story, its humor, its script, soundtrack and its notable character performances.
I never saw his earlier projects such as “The Breakfast Club” and “Pretty in Pink” and having seen his project “Some Kind Of Wonderful”, makes me look forward to maybe have a chance to see the other two.
Before I got to see this movie “Some Kind Of wonderful”, I can never forget one of its soundtrack that keeps on playing in the airwaves (xb102?). The track title is "I Go Crazy" Performed by Flesh for Lulu and I also bought this OST.
I also remember its movie preview, the scene where Eric was reasoning out to his father about his future after high school. His father somewhat was “dictating” him what course to take after high school but he finally told him to allow him to be himself with this line…… “I am 19 and next year I’m gonna be 20 but when does my life belong to me?” ……ahhhh, the point of standing up for being you, “fitting in”, and many more that the movie have succeeded portraying in the screen.
The standout performance is that of Mary Stuart Masterson as the drumming tomboy Watts, in one of her best on screen roles. Eric Stoltz is excellent as Keith. Lea Thompson does a fine job as the beautiful and popular Amanda Jones, who was given the role after Molly Ringwald refused it.
Hughes, to his credit have wrote and directed with a realistic understanding how teenagers communicate (as he knew at that time). Nowadays, have the teenagers been doing well?
Although it was reviewed with notable improvement compared to “Pretty in Pink”, many are wondering why has “Some Kind of Wonderful” remained relatively unknown and under-rated movie? This in spite of the fact that it has a better story, stronger lead performances, more enjoyable script, and certainly a better ending.
Whatever, this was an 80’s movie. Maybe it was destined to be a hit for the 90’s (as many have discovered it) and beyond. Enjoy!!!

a day in a life

The Da Vinci Code

Rating:
Category:Movies
Genre: Action & Adventure
I got to borrow a DVD movie collection of Tom Hanks yesterday and though it is already late in the night, I viewed the latest among the selection, “The Da Vinci Code”.
As I remember, this movie was released in the first half of 2006, and yes, despite the controversy of the movie theme, I can’t recall any interest of watching the movie as it was released that year.
Not interested at all way back then to waste the money paying for tickets for a movie based on a best selling book (which does not equate to being credible) by a certain Dan Brown.
I finished the movie past 1 am and I can say that as expected on these Hollywood big budgeted movies, technically they are competent.
Story wise, the movie makes a lot of claims regarding history and art, which are hard to prove. This is very evident in the latter part of the movie and at this point you will be safe to keep in mind that all this narrative of the man in crutches are only of his own conclusion. I won’t make a list of his supposed facts but what I want to share here is the fact that this movie reminds us about the evil that the misguided individual or group of people can and will try to accomplish to protect their selfish interests.
Yan, on this positive note that we are reminded about after spending time to watch this movie that I hope to meaningfully end this post.
And i think that positive note was worth my hour of composing this post.
my rating: 0.6 star for the self serving art and historical "facts".
p.s. The last movie i paid for to watch in the theaters was “Monsters” (Disney produced yata ito). You do the 'matics how many years ago that was.

site seeing......another flavour.

Visiting a friend's site, how much amount of time will it take to make a just review of the content? their profile, blog entries, music..........some flavour!!!

fashion - this time it's alright
they tickle you with a feather, they tell you you're sublime

turn on - to each their own usual story, another surprise!

fashion - the timing was wrong
your friends are fair weather, you knew it all along
turn on - to each their own

it's doing my mind in another surprise!

Will i get to finish a site before month's end? well, this will depend on the flavour, another surprise! Another flavour but not the usual stories really, pleasant surprises!

If I Should Fall behind

Rating:★★★★★
Category:Music
Genre: Soundtracks
Artist:Bruce Springsteen
As Mr. Springsteen proudly declared: "One of my best songs about the dedication to one another that comes with love."

Just got to review on this song from an album by Mr. Springsteen of which I have purchased back in those days na bago pa lang nai- introduce ang compact disk format for music. i got this copy in cassette tape format.
I am making a special mention of this song for my two busiest friends this week come their big date friday, the 18th of January.

Cheers to you, PJ and Jopay!!!

The song lyrics in full:
We said we'd walk together baby come what may
That come the twilight should we lose our way
If as we're walkin a hand should slip free
I'll wait for you
And should I fall behind
Wait for me

We swore we'd travel darlin' side by side
We'd help each other stay in stride
But each lover's steps fall so differently
But I'll wait for you
And if I should fall behind
Wait for me

Now everyone dreams of a love lasting and true
But you and I know what this world can do
So let's make our steps clear that the other may see
And I'll wait for you
If I should fall behind
Wait for me

Now there's a beautiful river in the valley ahead
There 'neath the oak's bough soon we will be wed
Should we lose each other in the shadow of the evening trees
I'll wait for you
And should I fall behind
Wait for me
Darlin' I'll wait for you
Should I fall behind
Wait for me

Have the year started?

Four days into the working year of 2008, I can say I have recovered on the works to be done after the long yet bitin na bakasyon. It took me 4 days because I cannot restrict myself to check out my email and reply or comment on some “currents”. Pero di naman ito yung inuuna ko pa yung chika kaysa sa trabaho. Basa lang ng email to take a “breather”.

How we end the year obviously will dictate how a new year will be welcomed and experienced is a proven good teacher. Reflecting on our mistakes and hoping not to repeat on it is a good start. Instantly, I have to say that for this year I must add on patience, to give attention to details, reconsidering/ really hearing out other options. Parang New Year’s resolution ahhh.

Promises, promises……and I think I have a promise to keep everytime I got to post something here at multiply, so I have to sort of fulfill it. Sort of…….

I went back home to my old town for the holidays, to the house that I grew up in. Going back was something after all these years. Same old street but big structures along the way. And felt a little excited two blocks away from our street.  Tambay muna ako sa kanto and I remember watching the sunset there in those earlier years pero ngayon these big structures have blocked my view of the sunset. There used to be a haystack  there that we played “tumbling" on. I also remember the first time I got “pikon” because of a prank played on me on those haystacks.

And I let time go by so slow, And I made every moment last, And I thought about years
How they take so long, And they go so fast.

Across the street my kumpareng George live. He was my best friend ever since even if  he was the one I got “pikon” to that one afternoon in the haystacks. His old man ka Bosyo is a little weaker now but still recognized me when he saw me.

And I thought of all the summers playing our brand of softball with our make-do gloves made out of carton, a ball made out from old socks, and a bat out of a roughly chiseled wood.
And I thought of what I'd give to feel another summer competing like that we our make-do gears.

And I let time go by so slow, And I made every moment last, And I thought about years
How they take so long, And they go so fast.

Big thanks to Beth for the Years.

P.S…..pasensya na po……..

·          ma’am Jopay that I answered your transferred call as if you are “others” the other day. Di ko po kasi agad kita nabosesan.

·          Sis Shy dahil sa last minute kong pag post na misspelled ko name ni mr. Carusso

Happy New Year to everyone!!!
