Goldwyn Morales Azul as I noted

Out of the blue, I googled GMA (for brevity, i'll have to use this initial, even as it kinda remind me about that disastrous presidency) and it introduced me to a blogpost from Quiet Time Ramblings. I read her post about GMA afterwhich I check out her last post for year 2010 and her first post for 2011. Great posts and kinda GMA in detail.

I wanted to read more on GMA that very moment on that I suddenly remember taking some notes of GMA's past articles from the Flash Magazine, search for it in my file folders (real old paper and folders, not the PC kind) and was lucky enough that I did have them there all these years (25+ years in file?).

The notes that I copied started with the Issue number but I can't find the date for which it was published. As I recall, I made those notes early 90's either '92 or '93.

For now, the issue number will do and I might have the chance to update these with the exact details as I discover while re-reading them again in full.

For this initial post, in saluting GMA, I'll post here a part of issue number 503.

I think this was written in those years that we are frequented by the brown-outs and quoting GMA on those years.......

"Nothing but a burning light. And finally...

Time once again to return to my hut and, well, stare at my newest cassette acquisitions. Yes, I just stared at them these days since these 5-hour power outages we're having. It's really tough. Staring at the song titles and trying to imagine what they sounds like is pretty hard work. But somebody's got to do it. And hey, keep those letters and request coming, will you? Boy, that new Style Council Compilation album sounds great.

Here, take a look!"

nasayang na naman ang pinagsamahan

04March2011
Danny Seigle, Dondon Hontiveros, Dorian Peña, and Paul Artadi traded to the Express
for Al-Hussaini, Nonoy Baclao and Rey Guevarra.

Although this is part of  the business of Professional Sports,
players being traded to other teams somehow have saddening impact
to the diehard fan of the involved player.
With regards to SMB, a trade they made in the 90's betrayed
their slogan "Iba Ang May Pinagsamahan"
when they traded Alvin Teng to Pepsi.
And they seemed to have done it again here in this case considering the fact
that Danny and Dondon have been part of their recent Championships.
Sana pinaabot na sila ng retirement sa SMB.
So with this trade, the 3 Danny's of SMB have finally gone separate ways leaving Danny Ildefonso with the Beermen.

My Wish List

1. A Guitar. Michael Jordan didn’t pick up the competitive game of basketball until junior high. Having that thought, maybe it could work the same way with me and the guitar. May Jingle magazine pa kaya ng mga panahong ito para sa chord book?

2. A Microphone. On my 2nd year in High School, I tried to join the school’s Drum & Bugle Corps via the saxophone. Devoted the summer of that year reading musical notes and I felt I have earned my qualifications in the field of music. I did not push through learning musical notes for some reason so I did not make it to the D&B Corps but to this day, I can still sing “Bahay Kubo” by the notes. Maybe an adequate practice with the videoke will get me somewhere so the need to buy a quality microphone. Yeah, right. That quality microphone could be the start of something big.

3. Organize the CD/DVD collection. I think it’s been 6 months since I last purchased a DVD collection. Not that there’s no recently released movie worth watching (waiting for an 8in1 collection with the movie “The Town” in it). It’s just the last 3 collection I purchased- I still haven’t find time to watch. The need to organize.

4. Morning Jogs. Daily, I get up at 6 am. By this waking hour, I can’t afford to jog. This is almost breakfast and then the kids are off to school by 0630. I think I can afford an early jog at 5 am. But calling it a day nearly at midnight, it will be torture getting up at 5 am to jog. Then again, I can get up at 5 am. I just have to hit the pillow at 9 pm and simultaneously achieve the 5th of this list.

5. Quit Facebook!!!  Shutdown PC and sleep at 9 pm.

Way Back When?

As I review my yahoo inbox, I was elated to see a Multiply friend invitation from a teen years barkada whom I have missed for a long time. Got to log in to accept and reason enough to post a blog entry........ and my son achieved his 12th birthday......... And finally sent a word to PJ. Oh, two month plus have passed.

Way back when?

To all my contacts here at Multiply, missed you all more than you'll ever know.

Keep on Multiplying!

Lost in Translation?

Aprub na Translasyon: This never failed to put a smile in my face every time I get to recall.

Watching a Harrison Ford movie with the “tropa” at SM, I felt the anticipation regarding the movie was quite high, within me and inside the movie house.

The title of the movie was “Regarding Henry” and anticipation was built around the promotion of the film being the first to be shown in the Philippines with a Tagalog subtitle for the duration of the film.

So the movie started.

Images came flashing in the screen….

Then the movie title “Regarding Henry” was flashed with some images in the background…….

At the lower portion of the screen was the subtitle, “Tungkol Kay Henry”.

Instantly the room was filled with muffled sound kinda mixes of ahhhhh…ohhhhh…wow…..and  some polite giggles.

It was a good movie but I can’t recall any movie with a Tagalog subtitle shown in the Pinas next to this one.

Or maybe the time came that the cost of the movie ticket made me made excuses to the “tropa” that they go ahead watch a movie without me.

Alost Translation: Halloweeen

Catholics celebrate their saints on their own "saints day,"  the anniversary of their saint's  death. With thousands of canonized saints, only a small percentage are recognized regularly. In the seventh century, Pope Boniface IV officially established All Saints' Day in order to honor all the saints at one time. Prior to this declaration, they are observing All Saints' Day on May 13. But in the eighth century, Pope Gregory III moved it to November 1. Many historians believe the Church really moved the observance to correspond with Samhain and other pagan fall festivals.

It has been noted that the Catholic Church had a long-standing policy of incorporating  traditions into its holidays in order to bring people into the Catholic faith. Many historians believe, for example, that the church set Christmas on December 25 so that it would correspond with pagan winter solstice festivals.

When All Saints' Day moved to November 1, the church did begin to incorporate Samhain traditions into the holy day's activities. This helped bring descendants of the ancient Celts into Christianity, but it posed some problems for the church. Much of the Samhain traditions centered on the supernatural and spirit world, ideas that don't have much of a place in Christianity. Recognizing saints, who were by definition deceased, covered a lot of the same ground, but the converts were still fascinated by the idea of their familiar dead returning to the world of the living.

Despite some unease in the church, many supernatural ideas persisted in All Saints' Day Eve celebrations, making the occasion a remarkable combination of Christian and pagan beliefs. At the end of the 10th century, the church tried to give these traditions a little more direction by establishing All Souls' Day, an occasion to recognize all Christian dead.

"Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town"

A couple or a year ago, a  song by “Five For Fighting” caught my attention about song titles not mentioned at all in the song lyrics.  And since that time,  I have noted as I chance upon them,  songs in my playlist (definitely a fave) and in the back of my mind, I always ask, what could be the artist’s reason not mentioning the song title in the lyrics? Researching about these songs, I found out that even though the title is not mentioned in the lyrics, it was “in” there, really. In some instances, no reason at all…”wala lang”.

Among my musical history “New Order”, as I gather is the most noted for this. Their Discography even have just  a few songs with the title actually found in the lyrics. Meaning most of their songs have title not actually found in the lyrics. Their reason….. “wala lang”, I suppose.

And as I look for other reasons, I found a couple……... (could have been?).

·          One is in a song titled “Our lawyers made us change the name of this song so we wouldn't get sued” by an artist by the name of Fat Out Boy. The legal issues of the business.

·          Another is the choice of a song title by the artist such as “My Name Is David Ruffin And These Are My Temptation” or  "Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town"  which  are close to impossible for them to be included in the lyrics and actually sing.

Oh, whatever their reasons may be, I am just thankful to have heard and appreciated these songs.

Can you identify the song  title? I will mention the name of the artist and have dug up their lyrics, post it in full (others, I will cut out the repetitve portion) for the sheer poetry, brilliance or just about anything you can have of it according to your preferences.

The first song is of an artist that could very well be the first to have an influence on me regarding music. Succeeding songs are of no particular order.

Again, if you have the time, kindly post the title  in the comment “portion”.

I read the news today oh, boy
About a lucky man who made the grade
And though the news was rather sad
Well, i just had to laugh
I saw the photograph
He blew his mind out in a car
He didn't notice that the lights had changed
A crowd of people stood and stared
They'd seen his face before
Nobody was really sure if he was from the house of lords

I saw a film today oh, boy
The english army had just won the war
A crowd of people turned away
But i just had to look
Having read the book
I love to turn you on.

Woke up, got out of bed
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup
And looking up, i noticed i was late
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke
Somebody spoke and i went into a dream

I read the news today oh, boy
Four thousand holes in blackburn, lancashire
And though the holes were rather small
They had to count them all
Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the albert hall
I'd love to turn you on

I'm just out to find
The better part of me

I'm more than a bird, I'm more than a plane
More than some pretty face beside a train
It's not easy to be me

Wish that I could cry
Fall upon my knees
Find a way to lie
About a home I'll never see

It may sound absurd, but don't be naive
Even Heroes have the right to bleed
I may be disturbed, but won't you concede
Even Heroes have the right to dream
It's not easy to be me

Up, up and away from me
It's all right You can all sleep sound tonight
I'm not crazy, or anything

I can't stand to fly
I'm not that naive
Men weren't meant to ride
With clouds between their knees

I'm only a man in a silly red sheet
Digging for kryptonite on this one way street
Only a man in a funny red sheet
Looking for special things inside of me
inside of me ...... inside of me ...(x2)

Come up to meet ya, tell you I'm sorry
You don't know how lovely you are
I had to find you, tell you I need ya
And tell you I set you apart
Tell me your secrets, and nurse me your questions
Oh let's go back to the start
Running in circles, coming in tails
Heads on a science apart

Nobody said it was easy
It's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be this hard
Oh take me back to the start

I was just guessing at numbers and figures
Pulling the puzzles apart.
Questions of science, science and progress
Don't speak as loud as my heart.
Tell me you love me, and come back and haunt me,
Oh, when I rush to the start
Running in circles, chasing tails
coming back as we are.

Nobody said it was easy
It's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy.
No one ever said it would be so hard
I'm going back to the start.

At this point in time that it's clear
The future looks bright
On that train all graphite and glitter
Undersea by rail
Ninety minutes from New York to Paris
Well by seventy-six we'll be A.O.K.

What a beautiful world this will be
What a glorious time to be free

Get your ticket to that wheel in space
While there's time
The fix is in
You'll be a witness to that game of chance in the sky
You know we've got to win
Here at home we'll play in the city
Powered by the sun
Perfect weather for a streamlined world
There'll be spandex jackets one for everyone

What a beautiful world this will be
What a glorious time to be free

On that train all graphite and glitter
Undersea by rail
Ninety minutes from New York to Paris
(More leisure for artists everywhere)
A just machine to make big decisions
Programmed by fellows with compassion and vision
We'll be clean when their work is done
We'll be eternally free yes and eternally young

What a beautiful world this will be

25 years and my life is still
trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination
I realized quickly when I knew I should
That the world was made up of this
Brotherhood of man
For whatever that means
And so I cry sometimes when I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out what's in my head
And I'm, I am feeling a little peculiar
So I wake in the morning and I step outside
And I take deep breath and I get real high
And I scream from the top of my lungs
What's goin' on

And I say hey....
And I say hey what's goin' on
And I say hey....
I said hey what's goin' on

Say your prayers little one
don't forget, my son
to include everyone

tuck you in, warm within
keep you free from sin
till the sandman he comes

sleep with one eye open
gripping your pillow tight

exit light
enter night
take my hand
off to never never land

something's wrong, shut the light
heavy thoughts tonight
and they aren't of snow white

dreams of war, dreams of liars
dreams of dragon's fire
and of things that will bite

now I lay me down to sleep
pray the lord my soul to keep
if I die before I wake
pray the lord my soul to take

hush little baby, don't say a word
and never mind that noise you heard
it's just the beast under your bed,
in your closet, in your head

exit light
enter night
grain of sand

exit light
enter night
take my hand
we're off to never never land

Dear, I fear we're facing a problem
you love me no longer, I know
and maybe there is nothing
that I can do to make you do

Mama tells me I shouldn't bother
that I ought to stick to another man
a man that surely deserves me
but I think you do!

So I cry and I pray and I beg

Love me love me
say that you love me
Fool me fool me
go on and fool me
Love me love me
pretend that you love me
Leave me leave me
just say that you need me

So I cry and I beg for you to

Love me love me
say that you love me
leave me leave me
just say that you need me

I can't care 'bout anything but you

Lately I have desperately pondered,
spend my nights awake and I wonder
what I could have done in another way
to make you stay

Reasons will not lead to solution
I will end up lost in confusion
I don't care if you really care
as long as you don't go

I can't care 'bout anything but you

And sooner or later it's over
I just don't want to miss you tonight

And I don't want the world to see me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies

She came from Providence, the one in Rhode Island
Where the old world shadows hang heavy in the air.
She packed her hopes and dreams like a refugee,
Just as her father came across the sea.
She heard about a place people were smilin',
They spoke about the red man's way, how they loved the land.
And they came from everywhere to the Great Divide
Seeking a place to stand or a place to hide.
Down in the crowded bars out for a good time,
Can't wait to tell you all what it's like up there.
And they called it paradise, I don't know why.
Somebody laid the mountains low while the town got high.
Then the chilly winds blew down across the desert,
Through the canyons of the coast to the Malibu
Where the pretty people play hungry for power
To light their neon way and give them things to do.
Some rich man came and raped the land, nobody caught 'em,
Put up a bunch of ugly boxes and, Jesus, people bought 'em.
And they called it paradise, the place to be,
They watched the hazy sun sinking in the sea.
You can leave it all behind and sail to Lahaina
Just like the missionaries did so many years ago.
They even brought a neon sign 'Jesus is Coming',
Brought the white man's burden down, brought the white man's reign.
Who will provide the grand design, what is yours and what is mine?
'Cause there is no more new frontier, we have got to make it here.
We satisfy our endless needs and justify our bloody deeds
In the name of destiny and in the name of God.
And you can see them there on Sunday morning
Stand up and sing about what it's like up there.
They called it paradise,I don't know why.
You call some place paradise - kiss it goodbye.

And play your sad guitar

It's no problem of mine
But it's a problem I find
Living a life that I can't leave behind
But there's no sense in telling me
The wisdom of the fool won't set you free
But that's the way that it goes
And it's what nobody knows
well every day my confusion grows

Every time I see you falling
I get down on my knees and pray
I'm waiting for that final moment
You say the words that I can't say

I feel fine and I feel good
I'm feeling like I never should
Whenever I get this way
I just don't know what to say
Why can't we be ourselves like we were yesterday
I'm not sure what this could mean
I don't think you're what you seem
I do admit to myself
That if I hurt someone else
Then I'll never see just what we're meant to be

I get down on my knees and pray
I'm waiting for that final moment

I feel so extraordinary
Something's got a hold on me
I get this feeling I'm in motion
A sudden sense of liberty
That's the way that we must pay
You got my time and you got my money
Now I feel you've started something
In a world that's so becoming
I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun...

When I was a very small boy,
Very small boys talked to me
Now that we've grown up together
They're afraid of what they see
That's the price that we must pay
And the value of destiny comes to nothing
I don't notice where we're going
I guess there was just no way of knowing
I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun...

I feel so extraordinary
Something's got a hold on me
I get this feeling I'm in motion
A sudden sense of destiny
The chances are we've gone too far
You took my time and you took my money
Now I think you've started something
In a world that's just begun
I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun...

Beth Nielsen Chapman - Emily

Emily

My oh my, time sure flies
I like what you've done to your hair
I've been fine, yeah, these boys are mine
That must be your little girl there

Some friendships grow distant with time
And it's no wonder, Emily, so much can change
We're too far to visit, too busy to write
But a closeness between us remains

CHORUS:
Best friends are made through smiles and tears
And sometimes that fades over miles and years
But I knew right away when I saw you again
Emily, we'll always be friends

I still sing now and then
Mostly at weddings for friends
And I just bet you still get
A yearning to paint now and then

They tore down our whole street
Now there's a bank where the house
was we shared back in school
Remember we both have each other to thank
For all the boyfriends we're not married to

CHORUS

"Stay as you are and you'll go far"
You signed my yearbook
"Don't forget me when you're a big star"

We can't stay, it's getting late
And they said not to let you get tired
We'll just be up the street
The number's right here by your side

Oh no it's no trouble
I don't want to hear how all this changes my plans
I'll see you tomorrow
Call me tonight, Emmy, please let me do what I can

CHORUS

News bearer.

I saw a newspaper delivery man on my way commuting to work this morning.

Sosyal siya! Honda 125 ang gamit nyang service. Di naman sa kinukutya ko siya, and on the contrary, I can relate to his situation kasi nga before I got hired by a manufacturing firm to which I am employed to the present, I lived by the “dignity of labor” of being a newspaper delivery boy for more or less 2 years using a good old BMX bike. Whew! Haba ng sentence na yun ah!

Yun lang po.

There goes my salute to the newspaper delivery man. To the dignity of labor.

The Pursuit Of Happyness

Rating:★★★
Category:Movies
Genre: Drama
This is the last movie on my Will Smith dvd movie collection of which I have all finished watching a week ago. Notables among the line up, in no particular order was Hitch, Enemy of the State, Men In Black I and II and this one.

Will Smith plays the lead role of the rags to riches story of Chris Gardner, a struggling salesman trying to a medical equipment that unfortunately have become outdated and most doctors at that time have found no need for the product so his source of income got bleak support himself and his son Christopher (his son in real life).

The obstacles that Chris faces are likely familiar to many or most people who watch, father and son are scrounging for food and living in homeless shelters and train-station toilets. The movie is about the achievement of one man who overcame the many obstacles that could have easily surrendered to. It also strain free that the movie is told without creating racial obstacles, because it was never an issue that Chris is black or nobody looks down on him even if his appearance at some instances do not fit that part of the corporate world.

I can say that Smith gave a great performance and this movie and this earned him an Oscar nomination and a number of acting recognitions. After viewing all the movies in that collection, I was curious how his career have been going so I read about the man and found out that ……..
• He is also one of only three actors in the history of film to have seven consecutive US$100 million blockbusters, the two other being Tom Cruise and Tom Hanks.
• Smith was nearly bankrupt in 1990 when the NBC television network signed him to a contract and built a sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, around him. The show was successful and launched his acting career.
• 1996, Smith began a successful solo music career while simultaneously starring in a series of films. The first two films were hugely successful summer blockbusters: Independence Day (1996), in which he played a fearless and confident fighter pilot, and Men in Black (1997),
• Smith turned down the role of Neo in The Matrix in favor of Wild Wild West. After the failure of Wild Wild West and watching Keanu Reeves' performance, he believed that Keanu was "born" to play the part, but admits not regretting turning down the role[11].
• He then gained lead roles in several box office successes including Men in Black II, Bad Boys II, Hitch, and I, Robot.
• Smith was considered for the role of John Smith in the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith; Brad Pitt eventually received the role
• He was also considered for the role of Willy Wonka in the remake of the film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

On a more personal side
Smith has admitted to studying Scientology and he has said many complimentary things about the controversial religion. He and his wife are close friends of prominent Scientologists Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, which has led to rumors that Smith is also a Scientologist. Although Smith has said, "I just think a lot of the ideas in Scientology are brilliant and revolutionary and non-religious." and, "Ninety-eight percent of the principles in Scientology are identical to the principles of the Bible.... I don't think that because the word someone uses for spirit is 'thetan' that the definition becomes any different", he has denied having joined the Scientology Church, saying "I am a Christian. I am a student of all religions, and I respect all people and all paths." After Jada made the film Collateral with Cruise in 2004, the couple donated USD$20,000 to Scientology's literacy campaign, called HELP, The Hollywood Education and Literacy Program, which is the basis for Scientology's home-schooling system. In Between Days

Got a lot in my head to scribble about. Not much time for those today. Tomorrow maybe.

The mid january athleticism, the simple joys of everyday, the time away multiplying, those days living like Forever Young, the playlist i wish i have completed, the activist in me that i hope to share to all those who care to read.

Strange ways, here I am again, and this early on I ask of you....bear with me.

I was just thinking out loud.

They sung from the Heart

Rating:★★★★★
Category:Music
Genre: Alternative Rock
Artist:AdL of I
Switching my WMP to “all music”, I get to notice some worthy homegrown, rocking with sense songs which was automatically copied from our network of office computers into my WMP media library.
I first heard and saw this band perform in UNTV 37’s 3G celebrations at the World Trade Center. A couple of song from them and I instantly said to myself that among the many local bands we have at the time, this is among the few that makes sense.
I completely forgot about them after 3G so as I am writing this, I am browsing some info about the band. A quick recall of my fave Pinay vocalist will initially (coz I may have to insert those I will fail to recall for the moment) look like this…..
1. Odette Quesada
2. Eleanor Academia
3. Cookie Chua
4. Kitchie Nadal
5. and now…….Aia de Leon of Imago

Yes, that is the band’s name, “Imago”. I will have to check out the copyrights of their songs that I now have on my WMP. If there is no problem with that, I could probably upload their songs in one of my playlist.
For now, those that are not familiar with the band “Imago” (as I was few hours ago), here’s an article about them that will be more than enough as an introduction.

‘We sing from the heart’ — Imago
The "Imago," which launched recently its latest album, explained its process of composition, singing and recording.
Aia de Leon, the lead vocalist, mentioned five steps they always have to follow:
1. The lyrics and composition must come from the heart
2. Step out of your box
3. Challenge yourself
4. Be honest
5. Talk to people, listen to their stories.
The other members of the band are guitarist Tim Cacho, bassist Myrene Academia, and drummer Zach Lucero.
And why Imago? For the lack of any other name, explained Aia de Leon.
The album the band has just released is entitled IMAGO Blush under Universal Records.
Blush features the Imago’s bestseller single "Taralets." The other songs are "Zelo," "Lula," "Sundo," "Under Repair," "Highway," "Lights Out," "Last Dance," "Closer," "Walang Mysteryo," "So Be It," and "S.R.O."
Aia did not deny that they would polite quarrels now and then, but their bonding with one another always prevail.
Lead vocalist Aia de Leon wrote practically all their songs, and for which the band spoke of her:
"Thanks to the songwriting prowess of lead singer Aia de Leon, whose prismic vision brings us the versicolored shades of the noblest human emotions."
Their album, Blush, is described as "an entirely musical voyage, with a few pleasant sidetrips."
Blush "is the culmination of Imago’s first two artistic outings, the albums "Probably Not But Most Definitely" and "Take 2."
For these albums, they won Awit, Katha and NU107 Awards, including a Best Vocalist and Best Drummer trophies for Aia de Leon and Zach Lucero.
For their latest album, "the feelings are more intense and touching."
The band members are described as follows:
Aia de Leon — a poetess who takes her listeners beyond the realms of romance with soothing interpretation of her self-pennned songs.
Guitarist Tim Cacho — his sweeping guitar playing is oozing with appeal and genuine feelings complimenting Aia’s singing.
Bassist Myrene Academia — provides formidable musical foundation that Imago really needs, and
Zach Lucero’s technical proficiency on drums heightens all the emotions that each song in the Blush album conveys.
Citing one of their songs, Imago is indeed an S.R.O.

Some Kind Of Wonderful

Rating:★★★★★
Category:Movies
Genre: Romantic Comedy
As I gather, this probably was John Hughes' least known teen movie from the 80's. I did saw it in its theater run sa Pinas and I enjoyed the story, its humor, its script, soundtrack and its notable character performances.
I never saw his earlier projects such as “The Breakfast Club” and “Pretty in Pink” and having seen his project “Some Kind Of Wonderful”, makes me look forward to maybe have a chance to see the other two.
Before I got to see this movie “Some Kind Of wonderful”, I can never forget one of its soundtrack that keeps on playing in the airwaves (xb102?). The track title is "I Go Crazy" Performed by Flesh for Lulu and I also bought this OST.
I also remember its movie preview, the scene where Eric was reasoning out to his father about his future after high school. His father somewhat was “dictating” him what course to take after high school but he finally told him to allow him to be himself with this line…… “I am 19 and next year I’m gonna be 20 but when does my life belong to me?” ……ahhhh, the point of standing up for being you, “fitting in”, and many more that the movie have succeeded portraying in the screen.
The standout performance is that of Mary Stuart Masterson as the drumming tomboy Watts, in one of her best on screen roles. Eric Stoltz is excellent as Keith. Lea Thompson does a fine job as the beautiful and popular Amanda Jones, who was given the role after Molly Ringwald refused it.
Hughes, to his credit have wrote and directed with a realistic understanding how teenagers communicate (as he knew at that time). Nowadays, have the teenagers been doing well?
Although it was reviewed with notable improvement compared to “Pretty in Pink”, many are wondering why has “Some Kind of Wonderful” remained relatively unknown and under-rated movie? This in spite of the fact that it has a better story, stronger lead performances, more enjoyable script, and certainly a better ending.
Whatever, this was an 80’s movie. Maybe it was destined to be a hit for the 90’s (as many have discovered it) and beyond. Enjoy!!!

If I Should Fall behind

Rating:★★★★★
Category:Music
Genre: Soundtracks
Artist:Bruce Springsteen
As Mr. Springsteen proudly declared: "One of my best songs about the dedication to one another that comes with love."

Just got to review on this song from an album by Mr. Springsteen of which I have purchased back in those days na bago pa lang nai- introduce ang compact disk format for music. i got this copy in cassette tape format.
I am making a special mention of this song for my two busiest friends this week come their big date friday, the 18th of January.

Cheers to you, PJ and Jopay!!!

The song lyrics in full:
We said we'd walk together baby come what may
That come the twilight should we lose our way
If as we're walkin a hand should slip free
I'll wait for you
And should I fall behind
Wait for me

We swore we'd travel darlin' side by side
We'd help each other stay in stride
But each lover's steps fall so differently
But I'll wait for you
And if I should fall behind
Wait for me

Now everyone dreams of a love lasting and true
But you and I know what this world can do
So let's make our steps clear that the other may see
And I'll wait for you
If I should fall behind
Wait for me

Now there's a beautiful river in the valley ahead
There 'neath the oak's bough soon we will be wed
Should we lose each other in the shadow of the evening trees
I'll wait for you
And should I fall behind
Wait for me
Darlin' I'll wait for you
Should I fall behind
Wait for me

Have the year started?

Four days into the working year of 2008, I can say I have recovered on the works to be done after the long yet bitin na bakasyon. It took me 4 days because I cannot restrict myself to check out my email and reply or comment on some “currents”. Pero di naman ito yung inuuna ko pa yung chika kaysa sa trabaho. Basa lang ng email to take a “breather”.

How we end the year obviously will dictate how a new year will be welcomed and experienced is a proven good teacher. Reflecting on our mistakes and hoping not to repeat on it is a good start. Instantly, I have to say that for this year I must add on patience, to give attention to details, reconsidering/ really hearing out other options. Parang New Year’s resolution ahhh.

Promises, promises……and I think I have a promise to keep everytime I got to post something here at multiply, so I have to sort of fulfill it. Sort of…….

I went back home to my old town for the holidays, to the house that I grew up in. Going back was something after all these years. Same old street but big structures along the way. And felt a little excited two blocks away from our street.  Tambay muna ako sa kanto and I remember watching the sunset there in those earlier years pero ngayon these big structures have blocked my view of the sunset. There used to be a haystack  there that we played “tumbling" on. I also remember the first time I got “pikon” because of a prank played on me on those haystacks.

And I let time go by so slow, And I made every moment last, And I thought about years
How they take so long, And they go so fast.

Across the street my kumpareng George live. He was my best friend ever since even if  he was the one I got “pikon” to that one afternoon in the haystacks. His old man ka Bosyo is a little weaker now but still recognized me when he saw me.

And I thought of all the summers playing our brand of softball with our make-do gloves made out of carton, a ball made out from old socks, and a bat out of a roughly chiseled wood.
And I thought of what I'd give to feel another summer competing like that we our make-do gears.

And I let time go by so slow, And I made every moment last, And I thought about years
How they take so long, And they go so fast.

Big thanks to Beth for the Years.

P.S…..pasensya na po……..

·          ma’am Jopay that I answered your transferred call as if you are “others” the other day. Di ko po kasi agad kita nabosesan.

·          Sis Shy dahil sa last minute kong pag post na misspelled ko name ni mr. Carusso

Happy New Year to everyone!!!

let me march to the beat of my own drums

Dyahe, it's been a nagging thought. I was 6 months into multiply and i have posted 5 songs..... and the list as these 5 songs may reflect that i have not "stepped on to the ninetees". Ouch.

Our music is those that inspires us way back then when we are much younger, and presently whatever beat it may have developed into. Ako ang less preferred ko lang yung beat ng country cowboy, monotonous hip hop, acid music or too heavy metal but it may also come down to somebodys interpretation. With this i can say that i have a considerably wide view regarding music.

Kainggit nga yung mga na visit kong site, they have presented their music very well. Just the same as reading people blog, listening to their kind of music can very well introduce you to someones personality and much more because there are more deeper stories behind that person's reason for liking a particular song. So nobody can claim that his or her song is the best song ever written. Your music maybe good but let me march to the beat of my own drums.

With that thought, we can avoid criticizing somebody else's playlist, we can only appreciate and wonder what could be the story behind the soundtrack of their lives.

And with this resolve, i came up with an idea of posting at a song whenever i got online, not on a particular order of preferrence, just which will first come available and i am saying this dahil oldies pa rin yung una kong nai- down load while composing this blog entry.

This i am sure.......everyone's favorite..... lalalala lalalala la la lalala......

And the band played on.

Beauty and the Beast

In my immediate need for something inspiring to share to a friend, www directed me to a television series of my youth, Beauty and the Beast (87-90). A TV series on "everything that is good about human kind and it is desperately needed more now than ever before so that it might shape the future of the younger generation today just as it shaped the lives of the fans it has now - fourteen years after it went off air."

Along with that story line, how can i forget this TV series which introduce me this song and poetry........

The first time I loved forever

The first time I loved forever
Was when you whispered my name
And I knew at once you loved me
For the me of who I am

The first time I loved forever
I cast all else aside
And I bid my heart to follow
Be there no more need to hide

And if wishes and dreams are merely for
children
And if love's a tale for fools
I'll live the dream with you

For all my life and forever
There's a truth I'll always know
When my world divides and shatters
Your love is where I'll go

Sung by Lisa Angelle
Lyrics by Melanie Safka
Melody by Lee Holdridge

somewhere i have never travelled

somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond
any experience, your eyes have their silence:
in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or which i cannot touch because they are too near

your slightest look easily will unclose me
though i have closed myself as fingers,
you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens
(touching skilfully, mysteriously) her first rose

or if your wish be to close me, i and
my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly,
as when the heart of this flower imagines
the snow carefully everywhere descending;

nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals
the power of your intense fragility: whose texture
compels me with the colour of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breathing

(i do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens; only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)
nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands

--
e. e. cummings
