After Sunday’s double overtime game, I was late to rise again today. I have set the alarm at 03:45 am but on instinct; press on the snooze button when the alarm sounded. After that I can’t tell what happened because the alarm failed to sound again and I glanced at the wall clock and it says it’s already 4:07 am. And I needed to be at EDSA and Shaw intersection by 05:30 am.
Fixed myself and I was out of the house 04:30 am and tell myself I can still make if I rode an FX taxi to EDSA instead of the jeep. There will be a 16 pesos difference in the fare but with the FX taxi, I can still make it to our shuttle service and I got to rest during the trip.
10 minutes waiting for a ride by the national road and still there was no FX in sight. Panic time. I think I’ll be late for the day.
With this thought, I knew I have to get on the first FX that will appear and get on I did on the first one that came my way.
I was the 10th and last passenger on the available seat at the rear.
The female nursing student in front of me held on the door handle after I have shut and lock the door and I said to myself… “Is she not satisfied with the way I have closed and locked the door?”
A few minutes into the ride and I understood her. Turns out that the driver is driving like a drunkard. Overtaking vehicles with less caution and making sudden steps on the brakes. I was supposed to have a relaxed trip and sleep along this type of transportation, but today is not the day. And nobody among the earlier passengers before me did able to sleep and all are watching out for the driver’s next sudden step on the brakes.
I don’t know if anybody among the passengers before me has complained to the driver so I held back any protest from my part. Though I almost blurted out to ease the tension within… “May LBM ba yung driver?”
I was able to blog on this, so that means I did make it to EDSA (just in time) at wala namang masamang nangyari sa amin along that Panic Day ride.
Hopefully I’ll be able to avoid any Panic Day in the future.
Sabado, madaling araw.
