The Chinese Way

In the 2004 Olympics in Athens,
USA beat China in gold medals won, 36 to 32.
But China beat USA in the 2008 Beijing Olympics,
51 to 36 in gold medals.
Fifteen gold medal difference.

In my mind, USA must be thinking,
“there must be a winning formula employed by the Chinese”.

USA wanted to make sure they’ll beat China again.
And maybe to address "winning formula" concern,
for the 2012 London Olympics...
USA have their uniforms “Made In China”. :P

The Egyptians also cashing in on the "winning Chinese formula" but due to Egypt's battered finances, opted for the counterfeit gear, which Egyptian officials said was "sufficient."
Egypt's Olympic Committee gave the athletes, bags that have large Nike logos on the front,
 but the zippers have "Adidas" written on them.
Egypt's committee chairman says that's good enough - even though they're fakes.
As of August 1, the Egyptians have won 1 silver in London.

Azkals try to toss out Mongolia today

INCHEON—A Philippine football team known to thrive in adversity faces its biggest challenge yet when it battles Mongolia minus several key players Tuesday in the second leg of their AFC Challenge Cup duel at the National Stadium in Ulan Bator. 

Kickoff is at 1 p.m. with the Azkals also hoping to overcome the sub-zero conditions against the Mongolians, who need to win by at least three goals to prevent the the Filipinos from reaching the group stage.

World Boxing sensation Manny Pacquiao should consider permanently hanging up his gloves after 57 fights and eight world titles as the brain can only takes so much battering, according to medical experts who treat head and brain injuries from boxing.
Encarnacion said that based on scientific data, 80% of professional boxers have chronic brain problem which manifest in form of abnormal behavior, dementia or even Parkinson's disease.
It is said that of all the sports, boxing is the most destructive to the brain.

TNT has record-setting ratings for NBA season opener

Tipping off one of the most anticipated seasons in the league's history,
TNT's exclusive doubleheader coverage of opening night of the 2010-11 NBA season
delivered record-setting ratings and audience for the network,
averaging a 3.5 US rating, 5,493,000 total viewers and 4,025,000 households.
The opening game, featuring the Miami Heat vs. Boston Celtics,
earned a 4.6 US rating and delivered 7,433,000 total viewers and 5,339,000 households, making it the most watched regular season NBA game on cable of all-time
(topping the Chicago Bulls vs. LA Lakers on Feb. 2, 1996).

Game two of the doubleheader,
featuring the Houston Rockets @ Los Angeles Lakers at 10:30 p.m. (ET)
delivered a 2.4 US rating, 3,719,000 total viewers and 2,823,000 households,
making the doubleheader the most watched NBA Opening Night doubleheader
 in Turner's 27 years of tipping off the season.

Clinched in G6, I will not mind.

LA clinched the West ticket to the finals in game 5. San Antonio's defense of the title ended in LA. A factor: where Manu goes, the Spurs goes.

In the East, some bad news for the Pistons. Rip is a doubtful starter or will he be available come game 6?

Another case.....

It is everybody’s right to complain of unfair developments but not this way:

The NBA acted quickly to Rasheed Wallace's postgame criticism of Game 5's officating crew, hitting him with a $25,000 fine, it was announced early Thursday evening by league offices.

The league said Wallace was fined "for his use of profanity and criticism of the officiating following last night's game" at Boston, which the Celtics won 106-102 to take a 3-2 lead in the Eastern Conference finals.

Here's what Wallace was reported to have said: "All that (expletive) calls they had out there, with Mike (Callahan) and Kenny (Mauer) - you've all seen that (expletive). A lot of them phantom calls, cats are flopping and falling all over the floor and they're calling that (expletive). That (expletive) ain't basketball out there. It's all (expletive) entertainment. You all should know that (expletive). It's all that (expletive) entertainment."

With such irresponsible statements like that, I would not mind at all for Boston to clinch the East ticket to the Finals.

 

A couple of G7 in the East and West will be just fine.

Five and four games each into the East and West conference finals and I have yet to actually watch any of the past games live. I just content myself to reading game results in the net given the chance or the papers.

Yesterday, the defending champs Spurs lost a game at home and got deep 1-3 in the west. But i still they will rise to the occasion and steal game 5, give the home crowd pride at game 6. Champs are capable of that. G7?

Today, Detroit trailed and lost in a close end game. Boston is up 3-2 in the East. Good news is game 6 will be in Detroit.  G7?

Then G7. Whoever win this one in the East and the West deserve it.

But my forecast for the 2008 Champ? The team from the West.
